The Algorand Foundation has officially announced a comprehensive roadmap for implementing post-quantum security. The plan envisages upgrading every layer of the protocol, including user wallets, developer tools, and consensus mechanisms.

Project implementation is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with full deployment planned for completion by the end of 2027. The organization has committed to ensuring broad quantum resilience for the network within these specified timeframes.

In its statement, the foundation notes that the selected timelines precede the NIST schedule for deprecating legacy RSA key sizes by several years. Furthermore, this deadline arrives three years prior to the U.S. National Security Agency's target milestone for national security systems.
